provides easy to use i.LON® 100 interface to
LonWorks® networks.
Add
affordable Web browser technology to your LonWorks
automation
system.
February 26, 2004 -
San Ramon, California
Broadwin Technology Inc.
released an easy-to-use HMI and SCADA interface to LonWorks
automation networks using the i.LON 100 Internet Server from
Echelon.
The i.LON
100 Internet Server
is a high performance network interface that connects LonWorks
automation networks to corporate IP networks or the Internet. The
i.LON 100 allows
LonWorks
control networks and network interfaces to be easily
distributed. The i.LON 100
provides a SOAP/XML Web
Services interface for integration with HMI, SCADA and
enterprise applications.
The
Broadwin
WebAccess i.LON 100
driver handles the SOAP/XML interface automatically
without any knowledge of SOAP or XML required by the user. The
user only needs to enter the network or IP address of the i.LON 100
and the name of the Data Points to be read or written.
Broadwin
WebAccess is the first fully Web browser-based software
package for industrial automation, Human Machine Interfaces
(HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).

"We're excited to have a
powerful Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the
i.LON 100",
explained Alex Chervet, Echelon's product manager for the i.LON
product family.
"The additon of WebAccess to the selection of GUIs for
the i.LON 100
is, we believe, a strong indicator of both i.LON
product family's broad market appeal and the widespread
adoption of the LONWORKS
device networking platform across many industries."
"The WebAccess
i.LON
100
communications driver was developed for a large industrial
control project, but we have many other Facilities and
Building Automation projects underway that are now considering
the use of the i.LON
100 with WebAccess HMI & SCADA
software", elaborated Tom Carter, Product Marketing
Manager for Broadwin. "We are
releasing an industrial grade, powerful, web-based solution for Facilities and
Building Automation to a ready market in the United
States, Japan, Singapore and China. Combined with the i.LON
100, customers can easily bridge the IT and automation worlds,
gain new insight into their operations, improve processes,
lower costs and increase revenue."

Using a standard Web-Browser, users can view and control automation equipment used in manufacturing facilities, industrial process plants and building automation systems. Unique to WebAccess, all configuration and deployment can be performed
remotely through a standard web browser including IO configuration, graphics building and remote software
administration.
Full Animation Client
WebAccess uses Active-X technology to provide real-time data,
trends and full-animation graphics. The WebAccess Client is available for desktop computers and laptops running Microsoft 32-bit operating system including Windows
98, ME, 2000, XP Home and XP Professional.
Thin Client
The Web Access thin client
interface is compatible with on all 32-bit Microsoft Operating systems including Microsoft
Windows CE, 95,
98, ME, 2000, 2003 Server, XP Home and XP Professional.
SCADA Node
WebAccess SCADA node software
communicates in real-time with automation equipment via Serial,
Ethernet or proprietary communications. WebAccess communications
drivers are the fastest available and provide communications
with a wide range of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs),
Single Loop Controllers, Direct Digital Control Systems (DDC),
Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and IO (input / Output)
systems including
LonWorks
Systems from Echelon.
The WebAccess SCADA Node software is available for desktop computers and laptops running Microsoft 32-bit operating system including Windows 2000 Professional, 2000
Server, 2003 Server and XP Professional.
Project Node
The WebAccess Project Node is an
ordinary Web Server using Microsoft IIS (Internet Information
Server), a standard option in Windows 2000 Professional, 2000
Server, 2003 Server and XP Professional.
Web browser-based
engineering
“The unique feature which distinguishes WebAccess from the competition is that all engineering, database configuration, graphics building and software administration can be performed
using a standard web browser. This makes WebAccess fully
browser based, not an add on to some traditional HMI package.” explained Tom Carter,
Broadwin product marketing manager. "Web Access enables
engineers, integrators and control systems vendors with the
ability to support their systems remotely over an intranet or
the Internet using an ordinary web browser. With the release
of XP and its remote desktop,
engineers can also configure the control system hardware
remotely!"
