WebAccess provides simple interface to Landis & Gyr Powers Systems 600.

Add affordable Web browser technology to your legacy building automation system.

July 26, 2005 - San Ramon, California

Broadwin Technology Inc. released an easy-to-use HMI and SCADA interface to Landis & Gyr (now Siemens), Powers System 600 building automation system controllers.

The Broadwin WebAccess PS 600 driver uses the MMI Port on a Controller Module, Protocol 2 (P/N 545-700).  This is a serial RS-232 connection. The WebAccess PS 600 driver handles the text based interface to read and write to virtual IO in the Power Systems 600 controller. The user only needs to enter the password for the controller and the name of the Points to be read or written.

Broadwin WebAccess is the first fully Web browser-based software package for industrial automation, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).

"The WebAccess PS600 communications driver was developed for Building Automation projects underway", explained Tom Carter, Product Marketing Manager for Broadwin. "We are releasing an industrial grade, powerful, web-based solution for Facilities and Building Automation to a ready market in the United States, Japan, Singapore and China. Combined with the PS 600, customers can easily bridge the gap between legacy devices and  modern automation, gain new insight into their operations, improve processes, lower costs and increase revenue."

Key Features include:

  • Completely Web browser-based Development, Deployment and Support.
  • Easy-to-use, "fill-in-the-blanks" configuration of communications.
  • Fast Development using pre-built database and graphic templates.
  • Built-in Alarming, Trending, and Data Logging.
  • An equipment Scheduler  (based on the calendar, time-of-day and day-of-week).
  • Integrated Video.
  • Notification of Alarms by email and pagers.
  • Multi-Layer Security including Restricted User access.
  • A true "Thin Client" for Pocket PCs, PDA and Handheld computers.
  • Access monitoring of user logins and operator actions.
  • Fully Scaleable Web application with Software Management Tools.
  • Object Oriented Vector-based Graphics.
  • Fast Display and Communications performance.
  • Robust, Redundant SCADA Nodes.
Using a standard Web-Browser, users can view and control automation equipment used in manufacturing facilities, industrial process plants and building automation systems. Unique to WebAccess, all configuration and deployment can be performed remotely through a standard web browser including IO configuration, graphics building and remote software administration.

Full Animation Client

WebAccess uses Active-X technology to provide real-time data, trends and full-animation graphics. The WebAccess Client is available for desktop computers and laptops running Microsoft 32-bit operating system including Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP Home and XP Professional.

Thin Client

The Web Access thin client interface is compatible with on all 32-bit Microsoft Operating systems including Microsoft Windows CE, 95, 98, ME, 2000, 2003 Server, XP Home and XP Professional.

SCADA Node

WebAccess SCADA node software communicates in real-time with automation equipment via Serial, Ethernet or proprietary communications. WebAccess communications drivers are the fastest available and provide communications with a wide range of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Single Loop Controllers, Direct Digital Control Systems (DDC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and IO (input / Output) systems. The WebAccess SCADA Node software is available for desktop computers and laptops running Microsoft 32-bit operating system including Windows 2000 Professional, 2000 Server, 2003 Server and XP Professional.

Project Node

The WebAccess Project Node is an ordinary Web Server using Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Server), a standard option in Windows 2000 Professional, 2000 Server, 2003 Server and XP Professional.

Web browser-based engineering

“The unique feature which distinguishes WebAccess from the competition is that all engineering, database configuration, graphics building and software administration can be performed using a standard web browser. This makes WebAccess fully browser based, not an add on to some traditional HMI package.” explained Tom Carter, Broadwin product marketing manager.  "Web Access enables engineers, integrators and control systems vendors with the ability to support their systems remotely over an intranet or the Internet using an ordinary web browser. With the release of XP and its remote desktop, engineers can also configure the control system hardware remotely!"
