| Integrate PTZ Video controls and images with HMI and SCADA.
|
| Pan,
Tilt, Zoom camera controls (PTZ) and video
images with live data, trends and animation are viewed and
controlled using an ordinary web browser.
July 30, 2003 -
San Ramon, California
Broadwin Technology Inc.
announced an on-line demonstration of live PTZ video cameras and
web cams mixed with graphical animation and live data
for HMI and SCADA software used in manufacturing,
process control, facilities and building automation.
PTZ cameras can be panned,
tilted or zoomed using buttons on the graphic display, similar
to buttons used to control PLCs and automation equipment.
The on-line demo is available
at demo.broadwin.com.
The download of an ActiveX plug-in is required to view the
video.

Web Browser.
|
| Unique to WebAccess,
PTZ controls and the Video image can be mixed with graphical displays, live data,
animation trends, control elements and other graphical
objects. Alternatively, Video can be displayed in pop-up
windows on remote web browsers. Live video conveys critical
information for manufacturing, process control, building
automation, traffic and facilities automation.
Broadwin's WebAccess
HMI/SCADA software allows the operator to control and view live video and
audio from remote using ActiveX controls. An alternative to
live video is a WebCam, which transmits video as a series
still images (JPEGs or GIFS). These "snapshots" are
pulled or pushed to the web browser once per second or faster.
IP enabled cameras and Web Cams allow CCTV cameras to be
connected to the Internet or other IP network. These cameras
are available to all operator stations via a web
browser.

Integration
of Live video and web cams with HMI and SCADA
systems is an important feature for controlling remote sites,
especially unmanned sites, remote equipment, and
security.
Typical applications include:
- Video imaging for
Security, controlled site access, and intrusion
notification.
- Equipment Monitoring (with
Audio) for remote start up of compressors and large
rotating machinery.
- Tank Level monitoring for
non-uniform fluids.
- Flume and pond monitoring
for water and wastewater monitoring and control.
- Paper machine felt and dry
end monitoring.
- Bottling and canning line
monitoring, extrusion processes and vision inspection
systems for manufacturing systems.
- Traffic and facilities
monitoring.
- Video imaging for safety
and personnel monitoring in hazardous locations.
About
the Live Demo

is part of the live demo of HMI and SCADA software at demo.broadwin.com.
You will be prompted to download and install an ActiveX
control in order to view the demo. (Hint - save the
download to your desktop, then close all web browser windows
before installing the Active X Plug-in). Internet
Explorer 6.0 is required for the video demo.
