Broadwin WebAccess HMI and SCADA
for Microsoft XP

Use an ordinary Web Browser to view real-time data, acknowledge alarms, control and remotely configure industrial controls and facilities automation systems.

October 29, 2001 - San Ramon, California

Broadwin Technology Inc. announces the release of WebAccess version 2.1 for Microsoft XP,  the first fully web browser-based HMI and SCADA software for industrial automation that is XP ready.  Web Access runs on all 32-bit Microsoft Operating systems including Microsoft XP Home and XP Professional.

Using a standard Web-Browser, users can view and control automation equipment used in manufacturing facilities, industrial process plants and building automation systems. Unique to WebAccess, all configuration and deployment can be performed remotely through a standard web browser including IO configuration, graphics building and remote software administration.

"Broadwin WebAccess, combined with Microsoft XP Professional on the SCADA node, provides a complete solution for remote software administration", explained Thomas Hwang, Ph. D, Broadwin vice president of engineering.  “With the release of our XP support,  users can not only view and control from any remote location, but can completely configure both the Web Access software and the control system hardware. This new Web-enabled solution will allow users to remotely monitor and control over their network or via the Internet using a standard PC and web browser. Data is displayed in real-time with dynamically updated graphics using full motion animation. Installing the XP remote desktop on any Windows NT or Windows 2000 computer will allow engineers to remotely access and configure the control system hardware through just a single XP based SCADA node.”

“The unique feature which distinguishes WebAccess from the competition is that all engineering, database configuration, graphics building and software administration can be performed using a standard web browser also. Thismakes WebAccess fully browser based, not an add on to some traditional HMI package.” explained Tom Carter, Broadwin product marketing manager.  "Web Access enables engineers, integrators and control systems vendors with the ability to support their systems remotely over an intranet or the Internet using an ordinary web browser. Until the release of XP, WebAccess provided only half the solution.  Now engineers can also configure the control system hardware remotely!"

WebAccess is available for desktop computers and laptops running any Microsoft 32-bit operating system including Windows 98, ME, 2000, 2003, XP Home and XP Professional. WebAccess 2.1 provides customers with unprecedented browser-based access to industrial control and building automation applications.

Internet Explorer 6.0 supports all features of WebAccess. For more information, visit BroadWin’s web site at http://www.BroadWin.com.
